The Brandon School Division is set to decide today whether to continue to require students to wear masks.
Manitoba's COVID mask mandate will be lifted tomorrow, but the province has given school divisions the power to make their own rules.
A report is to be presented at the board's regular Monday meeting and then a decision will be made about whether or not to ditch masks for students and staff.
A number of Manitoba school districts, including the Louis Riel School Division, Pembina Trails and River East Transcona, say they will align their public health policies with the province but will recommend students in kindergarten through to Grade 12 still wear masks.

Tonight before you head to bed make sure to set your clocks ahead one hour as Manitoba and most of Canada return to Daylight time as of Sunday morning.
Residents of Yukon and most of Saskatchewan are going to be staying put on standard time but the rest of the country will spring forward one hour tonight.
Provinces like Ontario, Quebec and BC have discussed the idea of scrapping the time changes in March and November but nothing official has been passed to date.

The Watson Art Centre is back hosting events and, according to Peter Nadolny, the building might look different than the last time you were there.
Unfortunately, we had a flood last spring that put a large portion of our building out of commission but, because of COVID, we couldn't have people in the building anyways. Now, when people are coming in the building, it's fully renovated. A new building, a new outlook, we're just really looking forward to having people back in the building.
They hosted the Chamber Appreciation Lunch on Tuesday, and are hosting The Flett Brothers concert on the Old Fire Hall stage tonight.
There's a whole bunch of Fire Hall shows coming up, it's more intimate than the big auditorium, where we have the Countryfest Return to the Hill celebration with Doc Walker and Don Amero and that's on the 25th.

The Mountain View School Division has started its search for a new Superintendent and CEO of schools with the application window opening Thursday.
Current Superintendent Dan Ward recently announced that he will be leaving the position at the MVSD after 4 years as Assistant Superintendent and 3 years as Superintendent of the school division.
Superintendent Ward will be departing the MVSD for a new job as the Superintendent at the Garden Valley School Division in the Winkler area. Dan said he’ll remain in his current position until July to assist in the hiring process and to make the transition to the eventual new Superintendent as easy as possible.

It was a successful evening at the Chamber Celebration Night where the Parkland Chamber of commerce gave out six awards. Jim Steiner received the Legacy Business Award, recognizing the amazing work he has done in the community over the years.

On Sunday the Swan River RCMP responded to a shooting at a home on the Wuskwi Sipihk First Nation.
After an initial investigation, the RCMP determined that two people were in the house when the male suspect who was known to them showed up.
The suspect entered the house and an argument occurred which resulted in the suspect shooting the male in the house.
Police say a 40-year-old male was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The RCMP have identified the suspect after he fled the residence.
An arrest warrant has been issued for 28-year-old Stacey Stevens of Swan River who is wanted on Attempted Murder, Discharge of a Firearm with Intent and Weapons Possession contrary to an Order.

Today at the Dauphin Agriculture Society’s Farm Outlook event they announced the winner of the 2022 Ron Brook Memorial Award during their luncheon.
This year’s winner is the Dauphin Agriculture Heritage Society and President Dennis Forbes was on hand to accept the award.
The Ag Outlook event is the first in-person event for the Ag Society since 2020 due to the pandemic and there was a full house for the lunch as well as the guest speakers throughout the day.

A retired man in Yorkton couldn't believe all the zeros when he checked his Lotto Max ticket last month.
Turns out Ernie Anuik won the 20-million-dollar jackpot.
Anuik, who is 72, says he was very calm when he shared the good news with his four sons, who accused him of joking with them.
When asked if he planned to buy a new truck, Anuik says he still likes the one he is driving now.
Anuik says he would probably be more excited about the massive windfall if he had won it 20 years ago.

A Brandon man faces cyber-attack-related charges after a joint investigation by the Brandon Police Service and the F-B-I.
The 18-year-old suspect is also accused of manufacturing illegal firearms with a 3-D printer.
Last April, the Brandon Police Service says it was contacted by the F-B-I in Los Angeles about two suspects, one of them in Brandon, conducting cyberattacks across Canada and the U-S.
Police say Nathan Parrott-Jones is charged with mischief to data, unauthorized use of a computer, firearm-related charges, and possessing illicit cannabis and cocaine.

Reit-Syd Equipment in Dauphin announced this afternoon that they are donating a total of $25,000 towards a brand new fund to help bring families to the Parkland from Ukraine.
The Parkland Ukrainian Family Fund will be looked after and administered by The Ukrainian Folk Arts Centre and Museum Inc.
The goal of the fund is to give a one-time financial gift to as many families as possible to move from Ukraine to live here in the Parkland area. The funds will include travel and moving expenses, housing, a means of transportation to get around the Parkland and funds for the initial living expenses.
Reit-Syd Equipment is asking individuals, families, organizations, businesses and local government to assist in the effort by donating to the Fund.
Donations can be made at any Fusion Credit Union Branch by asking to have the money deposited into the Parkland Ukrainian Family Fund. You can also mail a cheque to The Ukrainian Folk Art Centre and Museum Inc, Box 658, Dauphin, Manitoba, R7N 2V4. Cheques should be made out to the Ukrainian Folk Art Centre & Museum Inc.

Dauphin’s Countryfest announced this morning that their #ReturnToTheHill Celebration is hitting the road with a concert series coming up in late March.
The concert series will feature the full band of Doc Walker with special guest Don Amero joining for 4 dates at venues around Manitoba and 1 in Saskatchewan.
The tour will kick off on Thursday, March 24th in Portage La Prairie at the William Glesby Centre. The next day they’ll be at the Watson Arts Center here in Dauphin.
The tour will continue with dates in Brandon at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium on March 26th, in Neepawa at the Roxy Theatre on the 27th, and finishing up at the Anne Portnuff Theatre in Yorkton Saskatchewan on the 28th.
