This is happening because highly specialized Lifeflight employees that are essential to the Citation aircraft are changing.

Recruiting replacement staff is very difficult.

The province is replacing the citation jets with private carriers as early as later this month.

The citation jets being grounded will leave a bit of a hole to fill, they were used 50 per cent of the time last year.

Dauphin Pet Valu is hosting a Walk for Dog Guides this Sunday, June 9th. This is the first time that Dauphin has held a walk.

The goal of the walk is to raise money that goes towards the training and placement of guide dogs for Canadians with disabilities. Each walk is organized by local volunteers with support from the Lions Foundation of Canada

More and more Canadians require the help of a guide dog every year and Jason Melson, manager of the Dauphin Pet Valu hopes the walk will bring awareness to how important guide dogs are.

One Parkland resident has been the benefactor of the money raised by these walks.

Alex Lytwyn received his dog Fanta at no cost thanks to the Lions Foundation.

Now he is giving back and trying to help others by participating in this years walk and also by raising over $600.

If you are interested in pledging Alex and Fanta you can pick up forms at Coffee Creations, Kelleher Ford, or from Alex himself.

The walk is open for all ages and abilities and participants don't have to finish the whole course.

It all starts at 10 am at the Dauphin Pet Valu.

The 30th anniversary of the Vermillion Archers’ outdoor 3-D Shoot is this Sunday at the Selo site.

The course is about 3 quarters of a mile long and is made up of 20 targets.

The targets are in the shape of life-sized animals. The targets are made of specialized rubber foam that holds the arrow.

Terry Wareh, president of Vermillion Archers, says there’s a variety of topography with uphill, downhill, and riverside shots and the venue is one of the best in the province just because of the topography.

For safety reasons, he says they like to see adults go out with the younger kids on the course if they aren’t shooting. He adds that the targets are set up in a way to avoid shooting at someone else.

Registration is from 8:30 - 10:30 Sunday morning, if you'd like to take part, you need your own equipment.

This June marks the first official National Filipino Heritage Month.

The month was unanimously approved last fall in the House of Commons.

The month is aimed at bringing awareness to all the contributions that Filipino- Canadians have made in Canada.

More than 850,000 Filipinos have made Canada their home and have worked in everything from the medical field to the service industry. 75,000 Filipinos live in Manitoba now compared to 60,000 a decade ago

Myla Ignacio teaches the Filipino language Tagalog to business owners and community members in Neepawa, and she hopes that the month-long celebration will inspire Canadians to learn more about the Filipino culture.

Neepawa's population is currently one-third Filipino and continues to grow.

There aren't any celebrations planned in Neepawa as of yet, but Winnipeg will be flying the Filipino flag on June 12th, which is The Philippines' independence day.
