Parkland Crossing has transformed some old classrooms into a greenhouse.

It has been open for a couple weeks but already plants are beginning to grow. Jamie Harvey, administrator for Parkland Crossing gives some details on the set up of the new project.

“We have close to 100 feet of southern exposure window space in the east end of Parkland Crossing. Right now we are using one classroom. We have tables in what I call sort of a germinating room. I have to heat the building anyway so it goes down to 20 or 21 degrees at night, but on a full sunny day it can actually get to 31 or 32 degrees in this south classroom.”

Jamie is curious to see what people want to grow, what they would buy, and what they can’t get regularly in stores around Dauphin. He is also open to letting people take a bin and grow their own plants.

To set up a bin just call the Parkland Crossing office.
