The Manitoba Wildlife Federation is cautioning that a threat of Chronic Wasting Disease is close to coming into the province.

CWD is a progressive and fatal neurological disease that impacts moose, elk and deer.

The disease made its way into Saskatchewan in 1996 and spread into Alberta as well.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency notes CWD can be transferred to humans who eat infected game meat.
