More than 160 people want to drive home their views on provincial legislation that would pave the way for Uber to set up shop in Winnipeg.

Their names are on a list of speakers scheduled to address a legislative committee holding public hearings on Bill 30.

That legislation would give city council the power to create bylaws for Uber, but it would also dissolve the current taxicab board.

Taxi drivers crowded into last night's hearing at the legislature to voice their opposition to ride-sharing, which they say could destroy their industry.
