The Manitoba Farm Safety Program is partnering with Saint John’s Ambulance to offer first aid courses specifically designed for different farming operations.

Whether a producer is mainly crops, hog or poultry, horticulture, livestock, or beekeeping, there are specific learning opportunities. Keith Castonguay Director of the Manitoba Farm Safety Program talks what is unique about the courses MFP is offering.

“If you go on our site, it’s called Manitoba Farm Safety Program, and I’ll emphasize you spell out Manitoba the full word, you’ll find under industry we have information from workers compensation in Manitoba that shows very specific injuries by producer group. So if I was talking about the hog and poultry industry very quickly up comes, it will show you that back injuries from your knees are very much at risk, your thigh muscles are very much at risk, forearms from the front and back. So that means we can tailor the training specifically for hog farmers."
