The Roblin RCMP Detachment received complaints that an individual was going door to door in Roblin on the 14th telling residents that he owned a driveway paving business located out of Winnipeg.

He tried to sell them a driveway sealing product. It was quickly discovered that the suspect did not have a business license to operate in the community. Some individuals paid for the product and its application. Once the money was paid, the individual applied the “sealant”. In reality, the fraudster was applying a thin paint or substance that deteriorated very quickly and could be easily washed off.

The RCMP is reminding the public to be diligent and aware that numerous scams and frauds occur each year. Scams can happen as mail, text, internet, and over the telephone. These scams and frauds can occur in small and large communities anywhere in Manitoba.
