On this day 20 years ago a massive blizzard hit Manitoba, and triggered a huge flood crisis across the province.
The Flood of the Century brought national media attention to the province as the country sat in agony to see what would happen to Manitoba.

Former Producer and Co-Anchor of National News for CHUM Radio Paul Cross covered the story, and recalls the flood.

"It's really interesting it was a case where from my perspective Canada was on edge concerned about what was going to happen to Winnipeg and to Manitoba [...] the country kind of came together, the story became that this predicted flood of the century which means that the storm was only expected it could possibly happen once in a 100 years to that extent, that this flood would be such threat."

The blizzard brought roughly 30 to 40 cm of snow across the Province in just over 24 hours.
