Monday's Public Budget Forum at Mountain View School Division's Administration Office saw the school division's budget take a significant hit.

In February, the provincial government informed school divisions across the province that there would be a decrease in provincial support, and this resulted in a initial shortfall of $1.4 million dollars for MVSD.

With that in mind, the board of trustees opted to freeze their indemnities.

According to Secretary Treasurer Bart Michaleski said that this was a easy decision to make.

"Once we knew how big the shortfall was, we knew we shouldn't take an increase. So we look at the indemnities, and froze them at the 2016-17 level."

The special levy was also approved along with the budget, and the levy increased 5.94 per cent.
