High-adrenaline outdoor activities and the human spirit were on display at a film festival in Dauphin.

The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour made its first ever stop at the Countryfest Community Cinema last night.

Banff National Park media specialist Ray Schmidt introduced each film. He says it`s hopefully not the last time they come here.

"When you get this kind of turnout -- sold out the first time you come to a town, that's a good sign for the future... and we've already developed a great relationship with the organizers and the theatre here."

Schmidt says they tour with 30 films, and work with local hosts to choose which ones they should show for each venue.

"They help us get a bit of lay of the land of what it's like in Dauphin. Like for example, SHIFT, Clayton (Swanton) was like 'you know we do have some mountain biking trails that we're trying to develop and got a strong community here.' I hadn't had it programmed initially and I said, 'yeah, absolutely, let's switch it out. This sounds like a great fit.'"

SHIFT was a film about the Carcross Tagish First Nation in Yukon, which has developed mountain biking trails on Montana Mountain to increase tourism.
