Member's of the Skownan First Nation visited the Mountain View School Division's administration office yesterday, to host a Pipe Ceremony.

The ceremony is a prelude for the building of an Eagle Staff, which would be present at graduation pow wow's throughout the school division.

Joseph Maud assisted with the ceremony and says this is a chance to start over.

"Were Neighbors, so it'd be nice if the school's had some First Nation history taught in the schools. That way, I feel, would help to educate the local populations things like, Lake Winnipegosis, the names, the history of this area, and the First People's of this area, to incorporate some of that into the education system."

Maud said they are hoping to have an Eagle Staff built in time for graduation this spring.
