Viewers of the largest network in Japan will be getting a taste of Ukrainian culture, Dauphin style.

Kaz Yagi is with a film crew working on a railway travel show for Japanese TV.

Last night, they got involved in a Zirka dance rehearsal and their reporter, Yasuhisa Furuhara, got some lessons.

Yagi says when Furuhara saw the opening dance, he was amazed by its energy and dynamics.

"Also, he could see that every one of them enjoyed dancing."

Yagi says they were very accommodating.

"You know, welcoming us... and then also, we wanted not only to have the reporter, Yasu, watching the Ukrainian dance, but we wanted him to experience (it). I wasn't sure if that's something that they can do, accomodate, or not, but they said 'sure we can teach him a couple steps.'"

In addition to the dancing, the crew had a Ukrainian meal from a local family, and were given a tour of a Ukrainian church.

They're on a trip from Winnipeg all the way to Churchill.

The show will air in Japan in February.
