A crash near Birdtail Sioux First Nation has killed one woman and left one in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

RCMP say officers responded to the report of a single-vehicle rollover at Highway 355, about five kilometres west of Highway 83, at 5:30 yesterday evening.

Police say when they arrived two women were found ejected from the vehicle and it's unclear who was driving.

A 31-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. A 25-year-old woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where she is in stable condition. Both women are from the Birdtail Sioux First Nation.

Police consider alcohol and speed to be contributing factors to the crash, and they say seatbelts weren't being used.
