Veterinary clinics across the province will be teaming up to have a positive impact on pet overpopulation.

On November 2nd clinics across the province will be participating alongside the Manitoba Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA) in the first Manitoba Spay Day, offering discounted spays and neuters for dogs and cats.

Veterinarian and Owner of the Dauphin Veterinary Clinic, Doctor Roxane Neufeld feels the initiative is needed with an underlying message.

"We're following suit of multiple other organizations either in Canada and also around the world in promoting veterinary care, but also promoting spay and neutering in preventing pet overpopulation... it's a really important message trying to get people to spay and neuter their pets."

Spay Day USA was founded by the Doris Day Animal League in 1995, with the program expanding to 45 participating countries.
