Prairie Mountain Health had a surplus of $543,000 at the end of 2015/16.

As VP of finance, capital, and support services Brian Schoonbaert pointed out at the health region's annual general meeting at Elkhorn yesterday, that's significantly better than the $5.4-million deficit the year before.

Schoonbaert said the main reasons for the change were various one-time fundings, including one from Manitoba Health to cover the year-end deficit of $3.4-million.

One interesting note: due to the extra day from the Leap Year, Prairie Mountain Health had an additional $1.3-million in revenue and costs.
