An American lockdown program proposed to Winnipeg schools has received criticism from some school officials.
ALICE, which stands for for -- Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate -- comes from an Ohio company that instructs students as a last resort to fight for their lives.
CEO Superintendent for Mountain View School Division, Donna Davidson say she's heard of the program, but MVSD are currently following procedures already set in place.
"In Mountain View School Division we have not had conversation or preliminary discussion around using or implementing that type of program in the event of a lockdown... currently we follow the lockdown procedures where students are asked to remain out of site of an intruder."
Darren Thomas of the Manitoba School Boards Association says he has concerns abouth the fight aspect of the program, saying Manitoba doesn't have a gun culture.
