They haven't got any official word yet, but both the city and RM of Dauphin are pretty sure they'll be approved for funding under the Municipal Roads Improvement Program.

The program got off to a late start this year, following the provincial election. Because of that, even if the RM is approved for the six projects for which its applied, most of them will have to wait until next year.

RM CAO Laura Murray says they went ahead and did one out of their own budget, but their budget is very tight and it's tough to squeeze in extras.

Mayor Eric Irwin says the city went ahead with its MRIP project -- Veteran's Drive -- using money from reserves, but if MRIP approval comes around (as the mayor expects it to), they will be able to put that funding towards it.
