Albert Thompson of Ste. Rose is just one of the few people in the Parkland area that will be participating in Harvesting Hope.

The event is a pioneer harvest where 125 antique threshing machines and 600 "pioneer farmers" will try to break a world record, all to help world hunger.

Thompson says this event brings him back to his roots.

"I was raised on a small farm and I works ya know with the threshing crews when I was young. So, this thrashing is all you know part of my heritage and such. And then all the grain that we are going to harvest here is all going to go for Harvesting Hope which is all going to a very good cause."

Harvesting Hope is in conjunction with the Manitoba Thresherman's Reunion and Stampede, which happens in Austin, July 31st.
