Mail Still Coming as Lockout Cancelled but No Deal Reached
Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers are still at the bargaining table after the crown corporation withdrew a threat to lock out its 50,000 workers today.
Canada Post says both parties can now focus on negotiations without the threat of a lockout hanging over them.
It also says it expects the union to honour its pledge not to issue a strike notice.

Winnipeg Police to Discuss Missing Women Case
Police in Winnipeg are to give an update this morning in the case of a woman who disappeared one year ago.
Thelma Krull was last seen on July 11th after she left her home in the city's northeast to go for a walk.
In the last 12 months, police, friends, family and volunteers have searched for any traces of Krull -- the only clue being the 57-year-old's glasses found at a community club.
Police say the investigation remains a missing person's case and a member of the homicide unit will be releasing new details.

Fort Mac Firefighters Being Screened for Health Issues Caused by Battling Wildfire
The Fort McMurray president of an international firefighters union predicts some of the municipal crew who fought to protect the city from a wildfire will have shorter lives.
Nick Waddington says the firefighters will need ongoing support and possible treatment for serious illnesses over the next 10 to 20 years.
Many of them are being screened for health problems because they spent several days inhaling hazardous smoke.
The self-contained breathing tanks they use only have about an hour's worth of air -- not nearly enough for a marathon shift fighting the flames.

Weekend Hydro Outages Caused by Storms and Beavers
Manitoba Hydro crews had plenty to do this weekend.
Storms and beavers are to blame for some power outages in the province.
Severe wind and lightning late Saturday caused the Westman problems, with Pelican Lake and Ninette the hardest hit, according to Hydro. Two poles were damaged, six transformers, and about 40 lines were down.
In the Matheson Island, Beaver Creek, and Pine Dock areas, beavers knocked a tree down into a line, cutting power to 362 customers.

Canada and Ukraine Sign Free Trade Agreement
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is in Kyiv today where he oversaw the signing of a free trade agreement with Ukraine after years of negotiations.
Ukrainian officials are hoping the accord will spark an influx of Canadian investment for their country's struggling economy.
Before the deal was signed, Trudeau sat down with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko who thanked Canada for its support over the years.
Some European allies have complained that Ukraine isn't doing enough to implement commitments it made in a peace deal with the rebels and Russia, and they've warned they may not renew sanctions against Russia. Trudeau, however, said Canada would push its allies to continue supporting Ukraine.
