Manitobans could be seeing an increase with their auto insurance.
Manitoba Public Insurance said in a release today that they have asked the Public Utilities Board for a 2% increase to Basic Autopac rates.

If approved, the increase will result in the average passenger vehicle owner paying about $17 more in premium.

MPI says last year was “unprecedented” in terms of claims.

They say there was a 68 per cent spike in claims costs and hail claims in particular more than tripled from the year before.

The average premium for the private passenger vehicle class will be $1,018.
