Following a high speed chase with police near Portage la Prairie, RCMP saying a person was shot by an officer.
The altercation happened on Highway 240, where a 30 year old man from Winnipeg received non-life threatening injuries, and is being treated in hospital.
Highway 240 near the Portage by-pass is closed, and traffic is being re-routed through the city and down service roads.
A firearm was seized from the suspect.
Charges have not been finalized at this point.
UPDATE: RCMP say Highway 240 is expected to remain closed for an extended period of time.
