Over 100 people were served during the Dauphin Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation's Christmas Supper on Monday night.

DNRC Community Liasion Jason Gilmore was very pleased with how the evening event, and has plenty of thank yous that he wanted to extend.

"DNRC volunteers - we could not do any of the meal programs without them.  Both employees Monica and Tracy with Temptations Catering have been instrumental with our food program, and do a wonderful job in providing.  And then the live entertainment, especially local artist Jonathan Pacey, who basically came and provided some entertainment through volunteering his time."

Gilmore adds there is a need for an event like this at this time of year.

"During the holiday season especially, if you are in need, which a lot of people more so are now, especially with food security, we just like to spread a little joy and have a great quality meal with entertainment and such."

The meal, which was complete with all of the traditional Christmas-time fixings, was an extension of the DNRC's hot meal program, which Gilmore says is in danger of not being able to continue after the end of January without donations from the local community.

Donations can be made through the Dauphin First United Church, who are able to issue tax receipts for those donations.
