Another edition of the fall Rotary Book Sale wrapped up over the weekend.

Organizing committee member Jean-Louis Guillas says they had in excess of 10,000 books donated for this sale.

He adds he was particularly impressed with how the Friday night "Spirits & Sweets" event went.

"We knew from the spring, with the Wine & Words, that the concept of matching the book sale with another event would work pretty well.  This hall is fantastic, and the staff at Irving's are fantastic to work with. Carla was excited about the project and did research to find desserts that would pair well with various spirits.

Money raised through the Book Sale goes towards Dauphin Rotary's Scholarship programs, as well as towards sending local youth to Rotary Leadership conferences.

Guillas adds they are already looking forward to the spring Book Sale, which will be held in April of 2024.

"Whether we do a combination again is up to the committee to decide.  It does take a lot of effort to put it on.  Rotarians do a lot of that work, but we have great support from friends of Rotary, who like the events, and come out and support us by offering a few hours of volunteer time."

Guillas added plans are well underway for an Arts & Crafts event, that will be held in February, and will include craft beer tasting combined with Watson Arts Centre's Dauphin Art Group.
