A 37-year-old Dauphin man will be back in court later this month in relation to a traffic stop in the city earlier this year.
Back on June 13th, RCMP pulled over a vehicle that they say was speeding while going northbound on Main Street.
They found two men inside the vehicle, along with a strong smell of alcohol and a large bag of unmarked cigarettes.
After the driver failed a breathalyzer test, Mounties also discovered several other items in the vehicle, including a homemade gun with a bayonet attached, along with used and unused ammunition, several cell phones, and a quantity of cash.
Christopher Bilay, who was the alleged driver of the vehicle, had his case put over until October 24th.
Swan River stolen trucks
October 24th will also be the next court date for a Birch River woman accused of stealing two trucks in Swan River.
Mounties say they received a report on July 17th of a stolen truck on Main Street in Swan River.
The driver fled after being spotted by police, and the truck was later found damaged and abandoned.
Two hours later, the suspect was seen in another stolen truck, and again fled from police, before being finally arrested later that day.
36-year-old Jamie Audy remains in custody until her next court appearance.
Drug bust in RM of Dauphin
The case of a Winnipeg man arrested after a traffic stop in the RM of Dauphin was back in a Winnipeg courtroom this week.
Back in March of 2021, RCMP pulled over a vehicle about 10 km west of Ochre River on Highway 5.
The driver was arrested after failing to provide a breath sample, and a search of the vehicle led to the seizure of a large variety of cannabis products, as well as about 195 grams of cocaine, cash, and an open bottle of liquor.
32-year-old Jory Rowe was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and is due back in court next Tuesday.
