Dauphin Recreation Services has confirmed that yesterday's evacuation was ordered after an ammonia leak.

All occupants were forced out of the building around 3pm yesterday, and the Dauphin Fire Department and a hazmat team from Brandon were forced to come help out.

The Dauphin Fire Department says the leak has been contained, and emergency personnel are conducting air quality tests. They also confirmed in a Facebook post last night that all of the public made it out of the building unscathed, but a contractor was taken to the Dauphin Regional Health Centre and treated for minor injuries.

Rec Services General Manager Terry Payne says all activities in the Parkland Rec Complex and Credit Union Place today are cancelled.
