Environment Canada says an intense low pressure system tracking north from Manitoba will bring heavy snow and strong northwesterly winds to the region beginning later today.

By Tuesday morning, snowfall totals with the system will be in the 10-15 cm range over Melita and Virden regions, and 20-35 cm range further north toward the Dauphin area.

Conditions will persist Tuesday for the Virden and Melita regions while Minnedosa, Dauphin and the Ste. Rose regions will begin to slightly improve as heavy snow tapers off.

Blowing snow however will continue across these regions Tuesday, but not with near-zero visibility.
