The Dauphin Kings will officially wrap up 2018 tonight.

They end their pre-Christmas schedule when they welcome the Virden Oil Capitals to town.

Dauphin has lost five straight games while Virden is the hottest team in the league coming into the game. After a 2-8-4 start to the season, Virden is now 19-11-2-4 and they're in fifth place in the league. Just one point behind the Selkirk Steelers for fourth.

The Kings meanwhile are now in seventh place in the league, two points behind the Winnipeg Blues.

Offence has been hard to come by for the most part lately for Dauphin. In their last four games, Dauphin has scored three goals or more just once.

Overall, Dauphin and Virden have had a fantastic season series. Besides a 3-0 win for Virden earlier this campaign, each game has been a nail-biter.

Dauphin's power play is at 15.3% while their penalty kill is at 78.9%. Virden's power play is very elite at 24.4%. In fact, Virden tied the game last time the team's played at Credit Union Place on the power play before eventually winning in the shootout. Virden's penalty kill is at 84.6%.
