ERIC CHURCH SETS TWO CHICAGO RECORDS

 

Eric Church broke two records in Chicago for playing for a lot of people -- and playing for a lot of happy people. C-M-T-dot-com reports Church set an attendance record for his show at the Allstate Arena on Friday with an attendance of 18,626 people. That sets a new record for the arena. The previous record-holder was Vicente Fernandez, who had 18,452 fans in 2007.

The other record: the amount of whiskey consumed. The arena reports it went through more than 200-litres of Jack Daniel's during the show.

SNOOP DOGG, WILLIE NELSON AND A BUCKET OF CHICKEN

 

Snoop Dogg says one of his fondest memories is getting high with Willie Nelson, then getting the munchies. Snoop told an audience at the South By Southwest festival in Austin over the weekend he and Nelson hit it off right away while collaborating on a song called ``My Medicine.'' They worked on the track in Amsterdam. Snoop says they smoked marijuana and decided to get food.

They got a bucket of chicken and they both grabbed for the same piece. Snoop told Nelson, ``That's you, dog. My bad.'' Snoop calls it ``one of the greatest moments in my life.''

JENNIFER HUDSON AND JENNIFER NETTLES RECORD NEW OPRAH NETWORK THEME

 

Jennifer Hudson and Jennifer Nettles are coming together for a duet for Oprah Winfrey. They will record a song called ``You Will'' that will be used as the new theme for the Oprah Winfrey Network. The song will premiere tomorrow on the channel. It's also for sale tomorrow.

MEGHAN TRAINOR SIGNS DEAL WITH FULL-FIGURED LINE

 

Meghan Trainor is putting her curves to work. She has signed with FullBeauty full-figured fashion clothing lines for an endorsement deal. Trainor will start appearing in FullBeauty promotional materials later this year.

POLICE SAY DAVID CROSBY HITS, INJURES JOGGER

 

According to authorities, David Crosby hit a jogger with his car in Southern California. The California Highway Patrol says Crosby was driving his Tesla electric car Sunday, on a road in the Santa Barbara area where he lives. Crosby hit Jose Jimenez, who was jogging along the right side of the road.

The man suffered broken bones, cuts and bruises but is expected to survive. The CHP says Crosby was going about 55, the speed limit on that road. Authorities say he was driving toward the sun with limited vision. The CHP statement adds neither drugs nor alcohol were factors in the accident. The 73-year-old Rock and Roll Hall of Famer stopped and co-operated with authorities.

TAYLOR SWIFT BUYS PORN DOMAIN NAMES

 

Taylor Swift is buying up porn domain names. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers is making new Internet address suffixes available. Instead of ``dot-com'' or ``dot-org,'' people and business can register domains as ``dot-porn'' or ``dot-adult.'' Swift has bought those suffixes with her name as a pre-emptive move. Swift's representative could not be reached for comment. She's not the only one thinking ahead.

Microsoft has bought up the domain name Microsoft-dot-porn, Office-dot-porn and Office-dot-adult.

PATRICK CARNEY OF THE BLACK KEYS NEEDS MORE HEALING TIME

 

The Black Keys are calling off their tour of Australia, New Zealand and Japan because drummer Patrick Carney's shoulder is not healing properly. The band write on their website Carney sustained a dislocated and broken shoulder in January. They had expected Carney to be ready to tour in April, but his recovery is taking longer than expected. The Black Keys hope to resume their tour May 28th in Barcelona.

CAROLE KING MUSICAL WILL GET FILM TREATMENT

 

The Broadway musical based on Carole King's life will be turned into a movie. The Hollywood Reporter reports

``Beautiful: The Carole King Musical'' will be adapted for film. Tom Hanks will be one of the producers. No word on who will play King or when the movie is expected to be released.

ONE DIRECTION'S LOUIS TOMLINSON IS SINGLE

 

Louis Tomlinson of One Direction is on the market. The group's representative confirms to Billboard magazine Tomlinson broke up with his girlfriend of four years, Eleanor Calder. The representative says the couple have not made any announcement because they're asking for privacy.

Madonna's advice for those just starting in the music business: ``good luck.'' She says it's a different time then when she was a rookie, so there are different challenges now. She says the music business is hard, but any line of work is. She says if you're passionate and have something to say, that will get you through any tough times.
