RUSSELL SIMMONS - RAPE ALLEGATIONS

Def Jam Records co-founder Russell Simmons says he will defend himself against allegations of sexual misconduct.

Simmons writes on Instagram he will prove without any doubt he is innocent of all rape charges. The New York Times published a story earlier this week in which three women claimed Simmons raped them in the 1980s and '90s. Two other women have said Simmons had sex with them against their will. Simmons used the hashtag ``NotMe,'' which he says is not trying to diminish the ``MeToo'' movement, but to hold his accusers accountable.

SZA - HABITS

Giving SZA a compliment is liable to send her into overdrive. SZA says she feels she has to do that compliment a service and she'll keep thinking about one more component that will make her worthy. She acknowledges she's a little nervous and awkward, which may be because she's a creature of habit.

She says the same four people who live with her are the people who helped make her ``Ctrl'' (control) album. SZA says it was only recent she came out of what she calls her ``four year cave.''

ZAC BROWN BAND - ANTHEM PERFORMANCE

BEBE REXHA - ``A CHRISTMAS STORY LIVE''

Bebe Rexha will perform a new song called ``Count on Christmas'' to open the live musical version of ``A Christmas Story'' that will run on Fox on Sunday. Composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul wrote the song specifically for the live show.

NATIONAL MUSIC CENTRE

A vintage 1970s guitar owned by Neil Young and Bruce Cockburn's politically charged lyric books are on display as part of a new exhibition at Calgary's National Music Centre.

Organizers of the space, which is part of Studio Bell, say they've launched a tribute to Canadian musicians who recently received honours for their contributions to music. The showcase features personal items and instruments from the latest inductees to the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame. The National Music Centre says the exhibit continues until fall 2018.

TICKET SALES LAW

Ticket resale site StubHub says capping ticket resale prices artificially controls a global market and will lead to unintended consequences. The statement is in response to Ontario's Ticket Sales Act -- a bill passed yesterday to protect ticket buyers. The legislation bans tickets from being resold at more than

50 per cent of the face value and makes it illegal to knowingly resell tickets that were purchased by scalper bots. It also includes a ban on scalper bots, which buy a large number of tickets online for an event then resell them at a large profit. Ticketmaster has also warned that the legislation puts companies that are playing by the rules at a disadvantage.

PAT DINIZIO - REMEMBERED

Julian Lennon says he recently thought about reaching out to Pat DiNizio of The Smithereens for a collaboration, but ``it just wasn't meant to be.'' DiNizio died Tuesday at the age of 62, but details of his death were not given. Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray says DiNizio ``could craft an effortless, classic pop song.'' Former Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin says he'll never forget the great nights hanging with DiNizio and playing guitars. R.E.M. bassist Mike Mills says he always enjoyed speaking with DiNizio and hearing him play.

JON BON JOVI - ROCK HALL INDUCTION

Bon Jovi fans may see guitarist Richie Sambora reunited with the band for their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. Singer Jon Bon Jovi says Sambora is ``absolutely invited'' to participate in every aspect of Bon Jovi's induction.

Sambora says he'd be happy to accept. Sambora left the band in 2013 but he says he has no malice toward anyone. Bon Jovi says if he's interested, the band also is happy to welcome back bassist Alec John Such, who left in 1994. Justin Hayward of The Moody Blues says their induction is a victory for their fans, because it ``has now validated the music they so love.'' Next year's inductees also include The Cars, Dire Straits and Nina Simone. Sister Rosetta Tharpe will be inducted as an early influence. The inductions will be April 14th in Cleveland.

WALK THE MOON - DON'T SAVE THE PINATAS

One of the most amazing gifts Walk The Moon ever got from a fan was a pinata. Singer Nicholas Petricca says it was full of notes of appreciation from fans of the band. That spurred other fans to send pinatas to Walk The Moon. Petricca says he put one in his mom's basement and forgot about it -- until he realized it was filled with candy, not notes.

The basement became infested with rats. Petricca says a trail of wrappers led to the couch, and under it was a treasure trove of wrappers and rat droppings. As he puts it, ``Sorry, Mom.''

ALICE COOPER - RECORDS HIS FIRST SONG

Alice Cooper has dug way back for material to record. Cooper's new single is called ``The Sound of A,'' and it's the first song he wrote entirely on his own, in 1967. Original Alice Cooper Band bassist Dennis Dunaway rediscovered it. It will be released as a single on Feb. 23rd, but Cooper released a video for it this week.

BJORN ULVAEUS - NO TO ABBA REUNION

Bjorn Ulvaeus of ABBA says they will never reunite for concerts because it would be a ``hassle'' and enormous pressure. He says doing ABBA concerts would be like robbing himself of two or three years of his life, when he could be paddling his surf ski off the coast of Stockholm instead. Ulvaeus made his comments at the opening of a new London exhibition about ABBA.

JOHN ONDRASIK - CHRISTMAS EVE BABY

Christmas holds a special place in the heart of John Ondrasik of Five For Fighting. His son, Johnny, was born on Christmas Eve. Ondrasik says he and his wife started a tradition of wrapping Johnny and putting him under the tree as their little Christmas present. Ondrasik says it was great when he was a baby, and even a toddler. Ondrasik says, ``To his credit, at 17, he still lets us wrap him up and put him under the Christmas tree.''

GAYLA PEEVEY - OKLAHOMA CITY ZOO - HIPPO

The Oklahoma City Zoo has welcomed a hippo with the help of the singer of ``I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas.'' Gayla Peevey was on hand as a 26-year-old pygmy hippopotamus named Francesca made its debut at the Oklahoma Zoo on Saturday. Francesca had been at the San Diego Zoo. Saturday was also Gayla Peevey Day in Oklahoma City. In 1953, after Peevey's song became a hit, children in Oklahoma donated dimes to buy Peevey a hippo named Mathilda, which she donated to the Oklahoma City Zoo.

The remix edits together characters from the ``Star Wars'' movie so they appear to be singing the song. It ran Monday on ``The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.''

``NEW YEAR'S ROCKIN' EVE'' - WEST COAST ENTERTAINMENT

Kelly Clarkson, Khalid and Kane Brown will join the West Coast party for ``New Year's Rockin' Eve'' on A-B-C. HERB ALPERT - A&M ARTISTS

Herb Alpert thought Joan Armatrading would have been bigger. Alpert, who was the ``A'' in A&M Records with business partner Jerry Moss, says that's the one artist A&M signed that he figured would have resonated with listeners more than she did.

Alpert also admits he did not care for another infamous A&M artist, the Sex Pistols. They were on his label for all of a week in 1977 before A&M broke their contract to get rid of them. Alpert says the Sex Pistols had ``negative energy,'' and he's all about ``positive energy.''
