Dauphin Friendship Centre Executive Director Jeremy Smith who's been a part of the DFC for the past 18 years is this year's recipient of the esteemed award.
 
Smith is honored to have been nominated, acknowledging all the hard work and community involvement that Dauphinites have shown over the years. 
 
"I think it's a great acknowledgement for the people who had nominated me, but also it's great to see the amount of people who were nominated for all of the awards... it just shows you how great of a community Dauphin really is." 
 
The annual event honors those who have made a difference in the community in the areas of business, community appreciation group and community appreciation individual. 
 
Smith also spoke highly about nominees in the other categories optimistic about future economic growth in Dauphin.
 
"I think it's really great to see Dauphin growing, we are seeing increased population, we're seeing the evolution of Dauphin as a community... we have greater access to education here through the Assiniboine Community College, we have new businesses looking to establish themselves in Dauphin."
  
Recognition at this year's lunch was also given to chamber members who have reached milestone achievements.
