The Canada Revenue Agency says it sent a communication to some people last Friday that incorrectly said the deadline was May 5.

Now, to ensure no Canadians are negatively affected, and at the request of Minister of National Revenue Kerry-Lynne Findlay, the agency will stick to that date.

The CRA says it is taking full responsibility for the mistake.

Therefore, 2014 tax returns filed by midnight on May 5 will not incur penalties or interest.
