The Ebb and Flow Thunderbirds JV girls volleyball team headed to St. Pierre Jolys this past weekend for a volleyball tournament, and have come home Champions.

"This was the first tournament that the team has won together," said Tyrone Desjarlais, one of the Assistant Coaches. "They've come a long way because two years ago, they lost a game 25-0."

In the round robin, the team did not lose a set, beating Real-Berard, Pointe-des-Chenes, St. Joachim and Landmark all in two sets as they finished first place heading into playoffs.

"The girls have a real passion for the game of volleyball," said Desjarlais. "Every chance they get, they're playing volleyball, whether it be before school, at lunch or after. Sometimes, they're playing the game seven times a week."

In the playoffs, the team beat Pointe-Des-Chenes, 25-12, 25-14 which advanced them to the finals.

In the finals, the Thunderbirds dispatched of St. Joachim, 25-15, 25-12 to win the Championship, and did it by not losing a set.

"All of the girls were so excited, and some were emotional as well," said Desjarlais. "I told them for our school, that was the first time our JV program has won a tournament since we started having a JV volleyball team."

The team will now continue practicing, which includes exhibition games and tournaments, as we lead up to Provincials.

"We don't want to get too ahead of the game," said Desjarlais. "But obviously, that's where we want to be."
