Speaking to reporters by teleconference this afternoon, both International Trade minister Chrystia Freeland and Agriculture and Agri-food minister Lawrence MacAulay said they are cautiously optimistic it will be repealed.

"We are working very hard with our US allies and we are going to be in very close contact with them, hour-by-hour contact, as this process unfolds," says minister Freeland.

Freeland says Canada will be working closely with Mexico in this issue, as well.
