Prairie Mountain Health's Annual General Meeting for the 2025-26 fiscal year is set to take place tomorrow.

Treena Slate, Prairie Mountain Health CEO, said though the meeting looks a bit in the past, it'll provide valuable information to the public about how they've done in the past year, and where residents and stakeholders will see them improve.

"Our Annual General Meeting always focuses on the previous fiscal year, so in this case it is the 2025-26 fiscal year, which runs from April 1st, 2025, to March 31st, 2026...we'll provide a brief overview of health data in our region, highlight key accomplishments in the past year related to our strategic plan, and review our financial statements for the past fiscal year," said Slate.

In their 2025-2030 Strategic Plan, Prairie Mountain Health lists staffing challenges as a top weakness in the region, and lists implementing a staff retention and wellness plan as a top opportunity. In recent months especially, Prairie Mountain Health and the Manitoba Government have made big steps to address staffing issues in the region, including expanding seats in health-related training programs in colleges, and making it easier for out-of-province doctors and health professionals to transfer their credentials and certifications.

"We definitely made improvements in our financial situation over that fiscal year, and we continue to make improvements...we also made improvements in our healthcare recruitment and retention, and improvements in our vacancy rates, and continue to do so as well," said Slate.

Prairie Mountain Health's Annual General Meeting for 2025-26 will start at 12:00 PM tomorrow, Thursday, November 5th. PMH encourages members of the public to attend virtually, and register questions in advance. You can do so by visiting their website.
