Manitoba RCMP are reminding motorists to drive responsibly after seeing an increase in fatal collisions in 2026.
Mounties say the reminder comes after collisions in Dominion City and The Pas over the past week each resulted in the deaths of 19-year-old men.
RCMP says in October alone, they have responded to eight collisions that resulted in eight deaths.
So far in 2026, there has been 65 fatal collisions in Manitoba, and 73 deaths from those collisions, which is a 28 per cent increase from 2025 and 28 per cent more that the five-year average.
RCMP add that 25 of the 73 people who have died were under 30.
Additionally, drug or alcohol impairment has been confirmed or suspected in 17 of the collisions. Speed is believed to be a factor in 11. While in 23 of the collisions, at least one person was not wearing a seatbelt or helmet.
