As temperatures get colder, Riding Mountain National Park is making the switch to seasonal operations for a number of roads, facilities, and services.
Several roads in the Park are now closed until May 15th, including Lake Audy Road, Lake Audy Dam Road, Rolling River Road, Whirlpool Road, Deep Lake Road, and Frith Beach to Highway 354. The Park also says bison enclosure and Lake Audy access remains open, using Highway 354.
The Park says annual closures allow them to focus winter maintenance on key travel routes, like Highway 10, while they prep other parts of the Park for winter.
The Visitor Centre is also having some changes to their hours. They'll be open Friday to Monday, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, being closed Tuesdays through Thursdays. Parks Canada also reminds visitors many areas are not officially closed, but are not maintained throughout the winter, and to expect limited services, snow-covered roads, and reduced access.
