This Saturday is the nomination deadline for the 2027 Manitoba Outstanding Young Farmer program.

The award will be handed out next March after a competition at the Hotel Fort Garry in Winnipeg, with the winner representing the Keystone province at nationals, which will also be in Winnipeg in November of 2027.

Nominations chair Kristy Lane-Carr says there are some criteria that nominees need to meet.

"If you are applying as a single person or as a couple or partner, at least one of the partners needs to under the age of 40 as of January 1st of 2027, and two-thirds of your income must be derived from primary agriculture."

The 2026 recipients were Brayden and Misty Drul of Oakburn.

They will take part in the national competition next month in Vancouver.
