On Sunday, the Watson Art Centre released their updated Mission and Vision statements.

The Dauphin & District Allied Arts Council, the group that runs the Watson, passed the new statements to promote how they want to run the Watson, and to show the community how they plan on improving it.

"The Watson Art Centre supports and promotes arts and culture in the Parkland by providing a welcoming space for learning opportunities, performance, exhibitions and community events," reads the Mission statement.

Their Vision statement stays closely in line, promoting the ways they plan on continuing to support the community, and how they'll get community support for the Watson.

"Through partnerships with artists, volunteers, community organizations, and funding agencies, we strive to provide accessible programming that inspires creativity, fosters connections, and enriches the cultural life of our community; be a vibrant hub for arts and culture in our region - where people of all ages gather to create, experience and celebrate the arts; create a thriving community where arts and culture are valued as essential to community wellbeing.

These new statements reflect the results of the Watson's Community Survey from June, in which the Watson received very high scores in overall experience, importance to Dauphin and the surrounding region, and value to the community. The community survey shows the community cares about having accessible arts in the community, so the Watson will continue improving to meet that need.

The Dauphin & District Allied Arts Council said in a Facebook post they will keep these Mission and Vision statements in mind with all they do going forward.
