In the latest Spring Flood Bulletin, Manitoba's Hydrologic Forecast Centre says they've placed the Fisher River and Icelandic River in the Interlake under a flood warning.
The Hydrologic Forecast Centre says levels have exceeded bankfull capacities at some locations. They also said the Assiniboine River continues to be under a flood warning with snowmelt water passing through the system.
The bulletin also says the province is continuing to support flood preparations in communities in both the Interlake and Parkland, including Peguis First Nation and Fisher River Cree Nation, both of which could see their worst flooding in a decade.
In their previous Spring Flood Bulletin, the province said they've provided Peguis First Nation with more than 500,000 sandbags, and more than 36,000 sandbags to Fisher River Cree Nation.
The province is also continuing to warn of a significant precipitation system in northern Manitoba, including The Pas, Thompson, and Flin Flon. Those areas could see up to 40cm of additional snow before Sunday, when the system is expected to clear. The province also says the system could bring winds up to 60 km/h.
Conditions can change rapidly as spring melt progresses. The province recommends that people continue to monitor the Hydrologic Forecast Centre and local networks to stay up to date on alerts and warnings, especially those living near streams, rivers, and low-lying areas.
