Earlier today, all Dauphin schools were placed in hold and secure while the RCMP searched for a man with a handgun nearby, according to Dauphin RCMP.
The RCMP said they received a report of a male suspect carrying a handgun on First Avenue Northeast around 8:40 this morning. Officers responded and were unable to locate a suspect.
RCMP said two schools were place on hold and secure for a short time. 730 CKDM NewsNow has reached out to Mountain View School Division for comment.
UPDATE: MVSD Assistant Superintendent Gord Wood told CKDM NewsNow that out of an abundance of caution, ALL Dauphin schools were placed on hold and secure during the search, which was lifted around 10:00 AM. Wood said there will be a communication from MVSD shared with parents at the end of the day.
