Several communities in the Parkland will be marking Louis Riel Day on Monday by hosting events.
Here in Dauphin, the Northwest Métis Council is hosting an event at the Métis Community Centre in Dauphin from 11 to 5, which includes a hot dog lunch, kids activities, entertainment, and a cribbage tournament.
Similar activities will take place at the Elbert Chartrand Friendship Centre in Swan River from 11 to 3, while in Ochre River there will be skating, a wiener roast and hot chocolate at the outdoor rink between 1 and 3.
In Roblin, there will be a jigging demonstration, wagon rides, face painting, and an artisan showcase at the Roblin Community Centre between 11 and 4.
And, at the New Horizons Centre in Laurier, there will be sleigh rides, hot dogs and hot chocolate between 1 and 4 on Monday.
The day recognizes Louis Riel, the former leader of the Métis, who founded Manitoba in 1870.
