Tributes are coming in for former longtime CKDM personality Bruce Leperre, who passed away earlier this week at the age of 65.

Manitoba Country Music artist and friend of CKDM Kimberly Dawn called Bruce a magician, adding he was a walking encyclopedia of music.

"Not only for Canadian and good rock music and music of all genres, but did he ever know his Manitoba music.  Backwards, forwards, all the band members.  He was an amazing representative for Manitoba music."

She adds Bruce was also an inspiration for her as a radio announcer.

"What Bruce did for me was to aspire to want to be like him.  And I have had many opportunities to work in the industry for over 20 years, where I wanted to be exactly like Bruce.  I wanted to highlight and give opportunities to Manitoba-made and Manitoba-proud music and Manitoba musicians."

She adds Bruce had a calming soul and made you feel like a friend the first time you met him.
Bruce was a two time Manitoba Country Music Association radio personality of the year and was inducted into their hall of fame in 2021.
He was also recognized for his on-air and music director work by the Canadian Country Music Association in 2005.
