A 30-year-old man faces charges after he was seen smashing building windows and vehicles with a weapon.

On Wednesday at 4:25 a.m., Dauphin RCMP responded to the incident on 1st Avenue NW in Dauphin.

The man was holding a large pipe and wearing only socks and underwear. He refused to drop the pipe, which resulted in officers deploying a taser to take him into custody.

He was admitted to the hospital for treatment of exposure-related injuries. As the charges are not yet sworn, his name can't be released.

He faces charges of mischief under $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and resisting a peace officer.
