The Grandview Agricultural Community Centre is looking to win up to $250,000 through the Kraft Hockeyville campaign.

It's the 20th anniversary of Kraft Hockeyville. The campaign awards one Canadian city $250,000 to go towards arena upgrades, $10,000 of youth hockey equipment, and an NHL preseason game to be played in their city. This year, they are also awarding $50,000 to an arena in each province and territory.

Alia Marcinkow told us how important the arena is to the community.

"When I moved to Grandview 11 years ago, the first place my friends took me was to the hockey rink," she said. "The Grandview Comets at the time were playing, and it was amazing to see that there were people from babies up to ninety watching the local team play. It really is a community centre first."

The GACC needs a new ice plant, new boards, and new bathrooms.

The community centre will be hosting an info session on Saturday from 9:00 to noon and on February 6 from 1:00 to 2:30 at the rink.
