The Parkland Rangers dropped their home opener to the Winnipeg Thrashers 3-2
The Thrashers scored in the second period to break the scoreless tie.
Goals came fast and furious in the third, Tanyon Koshowski evened the game for the Rangers to start.
The Thrashers scored two more to lead 3-1, including the goal which would stand as the game winner on the power play.
Mark Liwiski scored with just over five minutes left to bring the Rangers within one.
The Rangers applied plenty of pressure in the last few minutes of play but were unable to find the back of the net.
The Rangers are now 2-2 on the season.
The Rangers are in action on Wednesday against Brandon, and play their next home game on Saturday against Pembina Valley.

The Dauphin Kings lost Saturday night's game in Virden 6-2 to the Oil Caps.
Virden exploded for four goals in the first period.
The Oil Capitals special teams proved to be the difference in the game, scoring twice on the power play and once short-handed.
Gilbert Plains' Riese Gaber scored hist first goal of the season, while Graeme Hore added his third for the Kings.

The Flyers struck three times on the power play, Dauphin found the back of the net twice on the power play.
Trevor Kavanaugh scored from the point just six seconds into Dauphin's first power play.
Kyle Oleksiuk scored his third goal of the season to even the game 2-2.
Winkler scored three goals, including two on the powerly in the last three minutes of the second period to storm out in front 5-2.
In the third Darren Gisti scored his first career MJHL goal ti make the game 5-3.
Parklanders Tyler Jubenvill and Coltyn Bates each had a goal and an assist for the Flyers.

The Dauphin Clippers girls soccer team and Swan Valley Tigers boys soccer team have qualified for provincials at Zone 8 Soccer Championship.
The Clippers girls team defeated Swan Valley 3-0 to move on to the provincials.
The Tigers boys team got back at Dauphin, handing the Clippers a 2-0 loss.
Provincials run next week in Winkler.

Neepawa earned their first victory of the season with the win, both teams now have identical 1-4 records.
Matty Greening and Kyle Oleksiuk scored for the Kings in the loss.
The Kings are in action at home again on Friday against Winkler.
