It was an emotional post for Chris Streveler as he announced on Instagram that he had torn three of the four major ligaments in his knee.
He was knocked out of the Banjo Bowl on Saturday on a roughing-the-passer penalty on Miles Brown, Saskatchewan's defensive end. He was seen on crutches following the game.
Before the injury, Chris appeared in 13 games with Winnipeg this season, throwing for 343 yards and one touchdown. He also ran for 272 yards and 10 scores on the ground. Across 46 career CFL games, Streveler has passed for 3,041 yards, 20 touchdowns and 20 interceptions, while adding 1,439 rushing yards and 32 touchdowns.
He won a Grey Cup with the Bombers in 2019.
According to TSN Football Insider Dave Naylor, the Bombers have brought in Bryan Scott and Jake Dolegala. Scott completed all five passes with Toronto this season for 79 yards and a touchdown. He was released on August 20 after Chad Kelly was reinstated from his suspension.
Dolegala had two appearances for the Lions this year, completing 15 of 26 passes for 158 yards.
There are only three games in the CFL this week, none of which feature Winnipeg. They will put their five-game winning streak on the line next Saturday when they play the surging Edmonton Elks.

It was a dream summer for Boston Karlson.
When he wasn't on the course working on his game, he was in the pro shop working at the Gilbert Plains Country Club. When he wasn't greeting people in the pro shop, he was on the course.
Now the word hard work means going beyond usual efforts to achieve success, including being focused, consistent, and motivated, and promoting personal and professional growth. Hard work and Boston Karlson certainly go hand in hand.
"My summer on the golf course has been perfect," said Karlson. "I golfed with my friends every day, with my grandpa, and uncle Dale. I played well, I'm very happy how it has gone."
While Boston is an extremely humble young man, his hard work and dedication are paying off big time on and off the course. His summer started at the Dauphin Lake Golf Club as Boston teamed up with Jackson Delaurier to play in the Gary Brandon two-man best-ball tournament. Entering the championship bracket, Boston and Delaurier caught fire as they won three straight matches to win the event.
They became the youngest duo to ever win the tournament.
"That felt unreal, Jackson and I had a great connection all weekend," said Karlson. "We got the putts to sink when we needed them to, it was a great weekend."
Boston and a group of his friends then made their way to Manitoba's capital to play in Golf Manitoba's junior boys' championship at the Niakwa Country Club. Widely regarded as one of the nicest courses in the province, Boston soaked in every moment of getting the chance to compete against the best junior golfers in the province while also enjoying the experience that is provided at a private course.
An impressive performance followed for the Dauphinite as he finished in a tie for 30th in a field of 65. Karlson also saved his best for last at the event. After posting rounds of 83 and 82 over his first two rounds, Boston had three birdies in his final round shooting an 80, his best of the event.
It was Boston's fourth time playing in the junior event. He has now finished 36th or higher in each of the events with his best finish coming last summer when he finished in 23rd at the Teulon Golf & Country Club.
"It was a fun week, I didn't quite have the week I was hoping for," commented Karlson. "With that said, it was a lot of fun to go with my friends, stay in a hotel, and hang out with the guys."
Then over the weekend, Boston entered the history books at his home course. With his 1-under 70 on Sunday as the GPCC hosted its Club Championship, Karlson won both the men's and junior events.
Highlighted by six birdies, Boston was 3-under heading into his final hole; however, he made a double bogey on 15. It was still enough to hold off Dale Murray for the men's title while he held off Jesse Genaille and Cody Zurba in the junior event.
It was Boston's best round of the year, it handed him a double championship and a piece in the history books at the Gilbert Plains Country Club.
"That felt amazing, to be one of the only kids to ever do it in Gilbert, that's very special," offered Karlson. "The feeling when I won the men's event as well was crazy, my uncle Dale was very happy."
While Boston will continue to sprinkle in a few more rounds until the season comes to a close, he will soon trade his golf clubs for a hockey stick as he will play one more season for the Dauphin Clippers hockey team. There is a lot of buzz surrounding the Clippers this year as Chase Glover will be between the pipes and several other veterans are set to return, including Karlson.
It will be Boston's senior season and he can't wait to get going.
"The season is going to be great, Ronin Mouck is also coming," said Karlson. "I love playing with the Clippers and being around the guys, we're always having a blast whether it's on or off the ice."
When it comes to Boston's future plans, he hopes to get into golf management and get his pro card. That will include two years of business school followed by a year in Lethbridge or Edmonton taking a golf course management course and plenty of practice in between.
"I'm looking forward to it, I believe it will be a great career for me," ended Karlson. "I love being at the golf course, talking to members and helping them with whatever they need."

It took the Dauphin Kings more than a period to get going on Tuesday night but when they did, they never looked back.
Playing in their fourth preseason game, the Kings downed the Swan Valley Stampeders, 5-1, as they earned their first preseason regulation win and second overall after beating Neepawa last week.
Rylan Gage was outstanding for the Kings the entire game and had a beautiful assist to Devun Olfert late in the third period. Olfert had the hot stick as he scored three times in the victory. Jack Bechard had another beautiful goal scoring his second in as many games for Dauphin.

The Neepawa Titans are on a preseason roll and on Sunday afternoon, their roll was at the expense of the Dauphin Kings.
Colton Alexander scored with 3:56 left in the third period and Neepawa was able to fend off a late push by the Kings in a 3-2 win. It was Neepawa's third win in as many days as they recently swept Waywayseecappo in a pair of contests.
The Kings found themselves down by a pair of goals late in the second before Cayden Glover scored his first of the preseason to give Dauphin some life. The Kings then tied it up as returning player Rylan Gage batted a puck home just less than three minutes into the third.
Dauphin continued to push and finished the afternoon with 46 shots, but it was Alexander's late goal that stood up as the winner. The Kings will welcome Swan Valley to town on Tuesday. They then play on Friday in Swan River before wrapping up their preseason on Saturday against Virden at Credit Union Place.

The Parkland Pirates youth rugby program is about developing young talent as the sport continues to take off in the region.
Practices have begun for the program with players as young as four to those aged 13. The numbers for the tackle group, including U12 Intro to Tackle and U14, are solid.
"The tackle numbers are good, we're happy with where they are," said Codi Harrigan. "It's the flag group where I want to see the numbers grow. Usually, we're in that range of 40 kids and we have around 15 right now."
Practices run from 6-7 on Tuesdays and Thursdays and while they have already begun, new players are welcome to join at any point. All you have to do is head down to KIN Field during practices and if your child enjoys the game, you can get all registered.
The fall season includes four jamborees.
Jamboree Season:
September 15 @ Souris
September 22 @ Brandon
September 29 @ Dauphin
October 06 @ Minnedosa
"It's a great opportunity for kids to try something different, something they aren't used to," said Harrigan. "Many of our players stick with it and fall in love with the game. They progress and move into the high school program and beyond. If we can kids at a younger age, we will be able to give them the skills they need much sooner."
As noted above, rugby in the Parkland is in a great place. At the Manitoba Summer Games this year, the boy's team cruised their way to a title while the local girl's team also impressed. Both high school teams are recent league and provincial champions.
If rugby has at all been on your children's minds as of late, now would be the perfect time to give it a try.
"It only shows the success that we can have as a team and a community," ended Harrigan. "Our teams are travelling a lot now and having success against top-tier teams. Then things progress to the senior level as well."
