Ex-Brandon Wheat King Nolan Patrick knew his rights were held by the Philadelphia Flyers, but now he is officially a part of the team after he signed a 3-year entry level contract with the team.
The 18-year-old from Winnipeg will make a base salary of $925,000 plus any bonuses. In comparison, last year's 2nd overall pick, Patrik Laine wound up with a cap hit of $3.75 million on his entry-level deal after bonuses.
In his first season with the Wheat Kings during the 2014-2015 season, Patrick put up 56 points in 55 games and added 15 more points in 19 playoff games that helped the Wheat Kings reach the WHL Championship series. For his efforts, Patrick was named WHL Rookie of the Year.
The next season, Patrick led the Wheat Kings to something they hadn't won in 20 years, the WHL Championship. He had 102 points in 72 regular season games and another 30 points in 23 playoff games that earned him WHL Playoff MVP honors.
Last season, Patrick played in just 33 games due to injury, but still put up 46 points. Patrick recently underwent surgery on June 19 to fix the problem that has been bugging him.
Patrick is set to join former teammate and Wheat King Ivan Provorov on the Flyers.
