The Dauphin Kings battled back to make a 3-0 deficit 3-2 in the third period but they couldn't complete the comeback in a 5-2 loss to the Portage Terriers Friday night at Credit Union Place.

Dauphin gave up two goals in the first 20 minutes to go down after the opening period. The first, I thought, was quite even with Portage out shooting Dauphin 9-8. The difference was the Terriers finished on their scoring chances. After falling behind 3-0 in the mid stages of the second period Dauphin got on the board when Kirklan Lycar notched his 17th of the season.

The Kings played strong in the final frame, getting the game to a one goal difference when Chance Thomas tallied his 14th. However a couple bad mistakes and giving one of the best players in the MJHL a breakaway in the third period costed Dauphin their first loss at home in 2016.
