Dauphin’s Lauryn Kuzyk, Caitlyn Labossiere, Emily Zacharias, and Mackenzie Zacharias are the best junior women’s curling team in Manitoba!

The foursome are the 2019 Canola Growers Junior Provincial Champions. They beat the previously undefeated Walter rink, 8-2 in the finals.

"It's probably the best feeling in my life honestly," said Kuzyk. "It's such a great accomplishment and I've never felt anything like this before."

The team started by stealing a single point in each of the first three ends. After the Walter rink scored a deuce, Lauryn and the rest of the foursome stole the show. They responded with a deuce of their own in the fifth and stole a single point in the sixth, seventh, and eighth end before the Walter rink conceded.

"We really just got on a roll and we were just ready to win it all," added Kuzyk.

Lauryn and the rest of the team now advance to the Canadian Junior Championships from January 19-27 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.

"We're doing the best we can to prepare for this," said Kuzyk. "We're having a send-off and we're getting all of our apparel ordered. It's coming up quick and it's just so exciting."

Kuzyk and the rest of the Zacharias rink are now inviting you to their send-off party to help raise some funds for this event. It's this Saturday evening at the Elmwood Curling Club.

"It's a kick-off party for us and it's super exciting, it's the start of what should be an amazing time in Prince Albert and we can't wait to represent the province," said Kuzyk.
