The City of Dauphin is advising the public that River Ave West from Hedderly Street to Main Street North will be closed to all traffic today starting at 8 this morning until evening to complete paving, weather permitting.

A woman says she was thrown across a room and left with rug burn on her legs ,by Manitoba NDP leadership candidate Wab Kinew— allegations Kinew denies. 

Tara Hart, says she had been dating Kinew in the spring of 2003 when the alleged incident took place.

According to Hart, she and Kinew had an argument which resulted in her being flung across the room.

Kinew, who is widely considered the front-runner for the leadership of Manitoba's Opposition New Democrats that will be decided Saturday, has repeatedly denied assaulting Hart.

Court records show Kinew was charged in June 2003 with two counts of assault on Hart. The assault charges only came to light last month via anonymous emails.

 

The search is ongoing to find the individual responsible for the bomb that went off this morning in a London Subway train. Hundreds of London police are involved in the massive search.

Forty-year-old Daniel Kamenicky, known as Dan the Magic Man, pleaded guilty to one count each of making and possessing child pornography.

Judge Sid Lerner adjourned a sentencing hearing yesterday, saying he needed more time to consider the submissions of the Crown and defence, who recommended Kamenicky serve six years and three years in prison, respectively.

A 23-year-old man was shot and killed by Winnipeg police following a string of violent incidents.

Family members have identified the man fatally shot as Adrian Lacquette, the youngest of Jo-Anne Malcolm's 11 children.

Police say they were called after a woman was assaulted, a business was robbed, and a woman's vehicle was stolen.

Malcolm says her son used to be in a street gang but had given up the lifestyle. She says she wants answers on why her son was shot.
